I will preface this article by stating that these are in no particular order and Griffin and his friends enjoy playing each one. The first game on our list is Star Wars X-Wing. To be fair as i write this We currently have a large star-map on the table and a bunch of minis scattered about after a crazy 2v2 dogfight in the Tyvan system! One of the main reasons we enjoy this game is the pre-painted miniatures of all the iconic ships from the StarWars franchise. I mean who doesn't see themselves piloting an X-wing into battle to aid the rebels or the resistance. Pre painted miniatures mean you are ready to play right out of the box. A quick review of the rules-which are available online and free to download from AtomicMassgames.com Look for our battle report video to hit in the very near future.

Next on our list is another game from Atomicmassgames. StarWars Legion. Same universe but we are taking the battle to iconic planets like Hoth, Endor and Tattooine. In this fast paced quick to learn game you will field a mighty force of miniatures from the rebel alliance and Galactic Empire. New school Starwars more your style? Don't fret you can play as the Galactic Republic prior to order 66 with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker! They will lead row upon row of Clone troopers into battle with the Sepratist forces and the battle droids. This game will require you to build and paint the miniatures for your army. These kits are builder friendly and pretty easy to assemble. For the younger crowd we do suggest parental supervision and assistance when assembling. Check out our Gallery on the home page for ideas on painting up these models.

Coming in at # 3 is a game very near and dear to my own heart and that is Battletech by Catalyst Game Labs . This game is an epic Space Opera set in a world rich in history and lore. This game was first released about 30 years ago making me about 12 when i first played with my friends. I still remember laying across our living room floor with the hex grid all spread about on the carpet and planning out which mechs were going to attack and defend. Getting to share this game with Griffin and his friends brings back so many great memories as we build and paint terrain to use in future games. Battletech is great because it offers a simple basic ruleset that you can expand upon and has the added bonus of both pre-painted miniatures as well as non pre-painted easy to assemble kits. Stay tuned for our painting tutorials on two of these models soon!

So there you have it. Just a few of the games you can find in our great hobby that you can share with your kids and have a blast.

Thank you
